About Me
Hi, I’m Nina
As a mother of three children one of whom has Autism, I have had my fair share of sleepless nights.
It's commonly understood that nothing can truly prepare you for parenthood, and I was certainly not ready for the great impact of fatigue on my life and my family's well-being. The first three years of my eldest son's life were marked by sheer exhaustion. Unaware of alternatives, I depended on feeding to induce sleep and co-sleeping. It seemed many people were reluctant to discuss their struggles, which often left me feeling as though I was missing something crucial. My social life vanished, and finding time alone with my husband became virtually impossible.
When my second child was born, the reality of juggling work with a baby and a toddler led me to accept the necessity of help. Early in his life, my second son was diagnosed with Autism, which affected his sleep due to sensory processing difficulties. Our family embarked on a remarkable learning journey, as this was uncharted territory for my husband and me. Seeking to regain my sense of self, I sought assistance for my children's sleep issues. Additionally, the challenges of homeschooling during Covid and my husband's commitment to his NHS work added to our family's complexities.
Minor adjustments to our routine and learning how to teach our children to self-soothe without needing to co-sleep with them each night made a huge difference. We had become so accustomed to this limiting situation that it became normal, though not a pleasant one. My only regret is not having done this earlier! Regaining my energy allowed me to concentrate on my health and well-being. I could socialise in the evenings again. After having my third child, I established sleep routines early on, which helped us maintain our routine with all the children.
Assisting others is my greatest passion. I possess extensive personal and professional experience in supporting families facing daily challenges, particularly those with neurodiverse children. Additionally, my over ten years of experience in coaching young individuals has highlighted the profound impact of sleep on their well-being. I am also in the process of completing my Autism sleep coaching certification to deepen my understanding of sleep science and its effects on the neurodivergent brain.
Gentle Sleep Training method
After trying the cry-it-out method with my eldest boy and not succeeding, I've decided to exclusively use gentle, proven, and effective methods. These room-based approaches encourage and assist parents in comforting their child while making changes, without ever leaving them to cry it out.
Evidence based strategies
Comprehending the science of sleep and your baby's neurodevelopmental milestones is crucial for implementing effective strategies. I take great pride in providing high-quality services that result in genuine, lasting enhancements in your child's sleep patterns.
My aim is not just to improve your child's sleep but also to equip you with the understanding and resources necessary to sustain healthy sleeping practices going forward.
Continuous support
Receiving that plan can be overwhelming, especially when you're tired. That's why I provide unlimited WhatsApp support for two weeks! Feel free to message me as often or as sparingly as you wish, and I'll reply during my working hours. This gives you the chance to ask questions as they arise and share your triumphs!
