I'm Nina, a certified infant sleep expert located in Essex, England, providing virtual services throughout the UK and internationally. As a mother of three, I've certainly had my share of sleepless nights!
It's commonly understood that nothing can truly prepare you for parenthood, and I was certainly not ready for the profound impact of fatigue on my life and my family's well-being. The first three years of my eldest son's life were marked by sheer exhaustion. Unaware of alternatives, I depended on feeding to induce sleep and co-sleeping. It seemed many people were reluctant to discuss their struggles, leaving me feeling as though I was missing something crucial. My social life vanished, and finding time alone with my husband became impossible.
The birth of my second child brought the reality of juggling work with a baby and a toddler into sharp focus, leading me to recognize and accept the need for help. Shortly after, my second son was diagnosed with Autism, which affected his sleep due to sensory processing challenges. Our family embarked on an immense learning journey, navigating this new path together. Then, as COVID-19 emerged and my husband's commitment to the NHS intensified, I found myself isolated, managing homeschooling for a 4-year-old, and caring for a 1-year-old and a 7-month-old baby.
Small changes to our routine and being able to teach our children how to self settle without both of us having to take a child each to co -sleep with made a huge impact! We were so use to being in this restricted situation it became a norm but not a happy one. My only regret was not achieving this sooner! I started to get my energy back which allowed me to focus on my health and wellbeing . I was able to go out socialising in the evening. I had my third child and implemented sleep routines early which meant we kept our routine with all the children.
Helping others is my greatest passion. I possess extensive personal and professional experience in supporting families facing daily challenges, particularly those with neurodiverse children. Additionally, my over ten years of experience in coaching young individuals has highlighted the profound impact of sleep on their well-being. I am also in the process of completing my Autism Sleep Coaching certification to deepen my understanding of sleep science and its effects on the neurodivergent brain.
